Review | Hoka's Speedgoat
I have to admit the first time I saw a pair of Hokas I remember thinking to myself "these look like Frankenstein shoes". They just did not look like the traditional running shoe. That's because Hokas are not your traditional pair of running shoes. I was working at a run specialty store at the time which gives you the perk of trying on shoes you normally would not even give a thought of trying. I decided to give Hoka a try. The moment I tried them on I was hooked! This review is for their trail shoes, Speedgoat 4. It is Hoka's highest cushioned trail shoes. All Hoka shoes are known for two things: ton of cushioning and very light weight. The Speedgoat is no exception. It is a neutral shoe for supination support. It's official weight is 10.8oz with a 4mm drop. A low drop shoe influences you to land more towards your mid foot rather than on your heels which in turn helps build stronger calf muscles. The updated newly designed upper mesh provides breathability. The midsole has a new light weight foam which gives you a better response. By far my favorite design is the 5mm lugs that offer additional support and stability which also provides in incredible level of grip whether you're running in wet or dry conditions. If you're a trail runner and average 40-45 miles a week, the Speedgoat is for you.

100 for a Hundred
I remember the pain. After finishing the 50 Mile Bull Run in April last year I remember the pain. Pain in my quads, pain in my calves and pain in my shoulders. Pain was all over my body. I also remember thinking finishing a 50 mile race is an accomplishment in itself, I asked myself do I have enough in me to run twice this distance? Should I dare run 100 Mile Ultra marathon?

One week. A week from today is travel day. In one week’s time I will be in Lake Placid, NY. Exactly what I'll be doing a week from today I’m not really sure. I may be going for an easy run or a short ride or a maybe a practice swim. I could be doing none of the three. I may just be hanging out with my wife Rica and my 8yr old son Noah at the bed and breakfast we booked. Perhaps talking to my friend John as he assures me for the thousandth time, everything will be okay.

I hired Vic to help me train for my 4th full marathon. I desperately needed someone to hold me accountable through the 16-week process. Hiring Vic was honestly the best decision I could've made. Vic was by my side on race day and I finished with a PR of 4:26. I HIGHLY recommend Vic to help you accomplish any running goal you might have. He's the best!
